Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters, in partnership with the Girl Scouts, offers girls another opportunity to access life-changing experiences that will inspire her to do something big. As a donor and volunteer supported mentoring organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Big Sisters”) and children (“Little Sisters”), ages 6 through 14, throughout the state of Nebraska and parts of western Iowa. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young girls.

Community-Based Mentoring

Our core donor-funded program focuses on Big Sisters and Little Sisters spending time together out in the local community developing their relationship.

Who: Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes

Cost: No cost to enroll in the program.

Capacity: There is no limit to the number of Little Sisters that can enroll in the program. The majority of the girls in our program come from single parent households, low-income households, and some foster-care children.

Notes: Many relationships between Big Sisters and Little Sisters fall under our Community-Based program. These are one-to-one outings and activities, doing things they enjoy together, like: taking a walk in the park, going to the museum, listening to music, and hanging out and talking. Some Big Sisters meet their Little Sisters on the weekends. Others get together with their Little Sisters in the evenings. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them.
