John A. Gentleman Mortuaries has been serving our community for over 100 years. We believe in preserving the history of our families. In doing so, we believe one way we can give back to the community is by creating programs that encourage children to save their family history or that of those who are older and may not have family around, but still have amazing stories to tell.
Preserving Heritage
Choose one of the following options for your workshop:
Option 1: Preserving family history using written and/or oral story telling (besides family members, this can also be done with elder people in the community). We will provide the questions for the girls to ask family members or older people in the community to help learn about their backgrounds. Depending on the age group of the scouts, the questions will be different. If they record their interviews, we will download them onto a CD for them to keep.
Option 2: Preserving the history of those in the cemetery by grave rubbings and or learning about their heritage by researching their past. We will provide the materials for the grave rubbings.
Option 3: Attend a beginning class on creating your own family heritage tree.
Who: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors & Ambassadors.

Cost: $7 per scout. Payment is due at the time of the event.
Capacity: Minimum 5, Maximum 20. If larger group, we may still be able to accommodate.
Registration: Registration is open for the written and oral but depends on weather for the cemetery grave rubbings.
Chaperones: Follow Safety-Wise guidelines.
Refunds: Payment can be received at the time of the event. We would prefer a 24 – 48 hour cancellation if not weather related.
