Youth Fall Cleanup

Help cleanup Omaha in your neighborhood, school grounds or park.

Who: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors

When: October 21-23, 2011/October 19-21, 2012

Cost: Free! Each Girl Scout will receive fun coupons, plus a letter of commendation from the Mayor.

Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors can work toward the special council patches Celebrate a Tree and Environmental Connections.

Trail Cleanup

Keep Omaha Beautiful, Inc. will provide $50 to any Girl Scout troop willing to pick up two miles or more of litter from any of the beautiful trails within the City of Omaha or dam-sites in our area. This program runs April through October. This is a one-time program per troop.

Who: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors

When: April through October

Where: Any City of Omaha trail. Go to our website for trail listings.

Cost: “We Pay You” plus we provide materials.

Helping Hands

Keep Omaha Beautiful, Inc., is sponsoring a project to help elderly and disabled citizens with a one-time leaf raking/yard cleanup. Just call 402.444.7774. Keep Omaha Beautiful, Inc. will partner your troop with a friend to help. Keep Omaha Beautiful, Inc. will provide bags and equipment for the cleanup if needed.

Who: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors

When: Spring and Fall (April, May, June, October and November)

Where: Call Kay for the name of an elderly or disabled person.

Cost: Free

Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors can work toward the special council patches Celebrate a Tree.

Capacity: Any size troop can volunteer/participate.

WORLD O! WATER FESTIVAL

Enjoy an afternoon of fun with troop or family to learn about water quality in a really fun way by learning to canoe, fish, do science projects, face paint, children’s activity center, art, booths, music and free lunch from Hy-Vee.

Who: Brownies and Juniors

When: August 20, 2011/August 25th, 2012

Where: Wehrspann Lake at 154th Giles

Cost: Free

Register: Just come on out at your convenience.

Recognition: Brownie Try-Its. Juniors can work toward Walking for Fitness and Eco-Action. Both can work toward Celebrate a Tree and Environmental Connections.
