LUX Center for the Arts enhances the lives of a diverse public through the visual arts by providing exceptional learning opportunities and contemporary art, craft, and design. These opportunities, honoring the legacy of arts educator Gladys M. Lux, include art classes, residence programs, gallery exhibitions, and community outreach. LUX Center for the Arts is located in northeast Lincoln in historic University Place at 2601 N 48th Street.

Guided Tours

Bring your troop on a field trip to LUX Center for the Arts for a guided tour of our art galleries and art studios. View current exhibitions by regionally and nationally known professional artists. Meet real artists and see how they make their artwork. Explore the inside of professional art making studios.

When: Tours generally last one hour and should be scheduled a week in advance during open hours, Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Cost: Free

Capacity: Maximum 20 people.

Visual Art lmmersion

Choose from ceramics, printmaking, textiles and fibers, jewelry arts, or painting and drawing. Let us help you earn your Girl Scout badges. We provide the supplies and instruction – you provide the creative spirit!

When: Classes are held during open hours, Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Cost: Class fees start at $13 per scout for one-and-a-half-hour classes

Capacity: Minimum four students. Maximum depends on the class/art medium of choice.

Art Classes

In addition to the programs Lux Center offers to Girl Scouts, we also have programming for youth and adults in a variety of art media and techniques all year long. Visit www.luxcenter.org for a complete list of class offerings.

When: Classes are held during open hours, Tuesday – Friday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Evening classes are offered for high school students and adults.

Chaperones: Follow Safety-Wise guidelines.

Refunds: Membership fees are non-refundable. Full tuition refunds or credits will be issued if a class is cancelled by Lux. Refunds, minus a $10 processing fee, will be issued if a student withdraws at least a week prior to the start date of a class. No refunds will be issued if enrollment is withdrawn after that time.
